Going west, once Honeymoon's over
URANIUM One will start drilling at its Gould's Dam project within a month in a bid to be ready to follow on from its Honeymoon mine, 75km to the east, as soon as that resource runs out. The Canadian company has engaged Brisbane engineering company Bateman Engineering to finalise designs and build the in-situ recovery mine at Honeymoon, 80km northwest of Broken Hill. Uranium One executive vice-president Australia and Asia Greg Cochran said the finalisation of Honeymoon's mining and rehabilitation plan by the Environment Protection Authority and the Department of Primary Industries and Resources South Australia was taking longer than expected, but should be finished within weeks. The delay would not affect the mine's expected first production of yellowcake scheduled for March next year, Mr Cochran said.
